If you’ve never come across Eden Barn, that’s rather the point. It’s a lovely little venue tucked away in a properly tranquil corner of Cumbria, the kind of place you turn down a quiet lane and think, ah, this is it. Rustic barn, gorgeous grounds, and a team who genuinely could not do more for their couples. I had the pleasure of capturing Beth and Matty’s Eden Barn wedding earlier this year.
A wedding shaped by the fells
This couple love the Lake District and spend much of their time out walking. Hiking the fells is their thing, so the whole day was a quiet love letter to the landscape. Lake District theming ran through everything: table names, little nods to favourite summits, and a palette of soft blues echoing lakes and big Cumbrian skies. Blue in the flowers, blue in the details, blue in the stationery – completely them!
That’s my favourite kind of styling, by the way. Not a theme bolted on from Pinterest, but a day that actually reflects how a couple spends their weekends.

Time together, not just a timeline
One thing this pair got absolutely right: they built in time to just be together. We wandered the grounds at golden hour, no rush, no audience. And those unhurried twenty minutes gave us some of my favourite photographs of the whole day. If you take one piece of planning advice from me, it’s this: schedule breathing room.

The venue lends itself for wedding photography without lots of walking and time away from your guests. The grounds are very scenic with a beautiful meadow for sunny days and a pergola for wet days. It’s a venue I look forward to photographing.
