Some weddings are about the guest list. Finbar & Melissa’s was about the two of them and then, once the vows were said, about a small handful of loving family.

They said their vows outdoors at Storrs Hall’s Boathouse, right on the edge of Windermere. No rows of chairs, no procession down an aisle in front of eighty people watching, just the two of them, facing each other, with the lake doing what it does best in the background. There’s something about a ceremony this size that lets you really hear the vows being said.
The Boathouse setting gives you water on one side and the Storrs Hall grounds rising up behind. It’s genuinely one of the most photogenic ceremony spots on the lake and one that works whether the weather leans dramatic or calm. The private accommodation with outdoor hot-tub and epic views is perfect for a tranquil morning before your ceremony and evening together after the excitement of the day.
Photographs, Just the Couple
After the ceremony, there was time set aside for just the two of them. Walking the grounds, taking it in, letting the photographs happen naturally before family joined for the next part of the day. That window gave the images a real sense of calm joy that I felt from the couple all day.
Confetti Celebrations With Family
After the ceremony and a drink together, I drove the couple to a special place in the Lake District where their family were staying. We enjoyed celebrations, a confetti throw, family gathered in close and a walk down to Coniston shore.
